History

The station was launched in June 2010 and broadcasts online from the Teamtalk studios in Leeds. It originally broadcast from 0800 to 1800 only, expanding to a full 24-hour schedule in August 2010 to coincide with the start of the 2010-11 football season. The station was initially only available to Sky Sports subscribers, but became free to all listeners when its sister TV channel was removed from Freeview.[1] The station can also be listened to via an iPhone or iPad app.

News reports are sourced from the Sky Sports News newsroom, Sky News Radio and Teamtalk's Sportslive Radio online horse racing service. The station's managing editor is Mark Chesworth.[2]

Programming

The schedule includes simulcast of several Sky Sports programmes, including Gillette Soccer Saturday on Saturdays from 1500 to 1800, midweek editions of Gillette Soccer Special and the football phone-in programme You're On Sky Sports. During the American football season, the station broadcasts an NFL preview on Friday evenings.

Presenters

The station's roster of broadcasters include former Talksport presenter and commentator Chris Cooper, former TEAMtalk 252 football commentator Tim Thornton, who is also the station's deputy editor, Rangers TV presenter Emma Dodds and former Real Radio Sports Editor Ben Ransom. The station's imaging is produced by Dave Armstrong who used to work at Galaxy.
